James began acting career in the British television series “Just William” (2010). Following she plays a supporting role as Lady Rose MacClare in the period drama series “Downton Abbey” (2012–2015).

James rose to international prominence for playing the title role in the fantasy film “Cinderella” (2015). Since then, she has appeared in major Hollywood films including Baby “Driver” (2017), “Darkest Hour” (2017), “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” (2018).
